Overview

Ok so I have now come to the end of the 12 things. I can't say that I have completely enjoyed the experience mainly due to the difficulties in accessing a lot of the things that have been talked about and frustrations with not being able to view things properly due to software issues.

However I now definitely have a much better understanding of all of the 12 things which have been disused.

Google alerts I think are great and I have been using them a lot in my personal life and I am working on ways to use them at work as well and the best thing of all is Google drive its fab I love it and I have managed to share documents easy peasie.

I already use Flickr and You Tube so am fairly well acquainted with these. It has been useful to be able to look at the other options especially creative commons as it is not one that I had heard of before however I don’t find it very easy to use. With regards to copyright I would be dubious about using some of the images unless I was 100% sure that all was ok. Unfortunately I am unable to look at Prezi and slideshow at work as large sections of them are blocked. I have been able to get an overview from the sections that i can see and I can see the benefits of them of them for work - as long as your Trust gives access to the social media sites that you can embed the slideshows into!!!!

The referencing resources are a must for people who are studying and having to reference. I have already recommend these to people who have been struggling. 

Again I was already familiar with the my library bookmarking and use it regularly. 


Overall I am glad that I undertook the 12 things tasks although things would have been an awful lot easier if I wasn't having to use a Trust computer. It often took me quite a while to work out that things weren't viewing correctly due to Trust computer issues or software. This made everything very frustrating at times and less enjoyable. 
 

Wikis

Although I think that things have moved on a bit I do think that Wikis have their place. I think we could use them as a means of allowing people access to information and links from a type of web page as changing the current website is a long process. Worth a more in depth look at I think.

journal TOCs

Yippee another thing I understand I am on a roll here.

Definitely see the benefits for work more so than personally. I have even been able to explain TOCs to other people so feeling very proud on myself.

RSS and Twitter

At last some tasks I am able to get to grips with. I managed to complete all of the RSS things without any hitches. At the  moment I think that RSS will be more relevant in my personal life as opposed to work but I'm sure that as time goes on it will become more useful at work.

With Twitter once I had taken that first leap and sent my first tweet things got easier. I can see the benefits of Twitter with work and I think once you have determined your style to tweet in it comes more naturally. I thing that unless you develop a style that you are comfortable with it you may struggle. Once I worked how to search for things the benefits became clear.

I have not been able to get to grips with this blogging task at all. I have managed to create my blog, change the template and with alittle help from IT post photos. However I have been unable to comment on others blogs and I'm not sure if this is due to a work IT issue or a glitch on the system. The trouble is if you have never blogged before you don't know what you should be looking and if its not right how would you know!!!!!

Anyway onto the next Task hopefully this will be easier.

Yippee!!

IT have sorted out my probems so I can now see all of my formatting icons. To prove it here is a picture of my dog.

Very Frustrating!!

I was getting extremely frustrated with trying to do things with my blog and finally resorted to the Blogger Help section I have just realised that I can't see any of the any of the formatting icons. I did receive an error message when I created the blog saying that my browser is out of date and some functions would be affected. I guess I have discovered which functions it is that don't work!!!!

Has anyone else had this problem?
